In this tutorial, we will discuss how you can save time, gain peace of mind, and prevent possible service disruption due to a negative balance by authorizing your credit card to be automatically charged for an amount specified by you, once a minimum balance has been reached, using Auto Recharge.
Auto Recharge allows you to set up a credit card to be automatically charged a preset dollar amount after your termination or SMS balance falls below the preset dollar limit you have configured in your Smart Carrier account.
We will now provide a demonstration.
In this example, we will configure a credit card to be automatically charged $1000 after the termination balance falls below $75 dollars. Please note, the minimum Auto Recharge termination balance amount must be $300 or greater.
We will start by navigating to app.smartcarrier.io and selecting Account Balance & Credit Cards under the My Account Menu, as shown.
From the Account Balance & Credit Cards page, scroll down to Credit Cards & Auto Recharge. Please note, if you have not yet added a credit card to your Smart Carrier account, you will need to do so before you can set up Auto Recharge. We will cover how to add a credit card to your Smart Carrier account in another video.
Here, below the last four digits of a credit card you have on file, select yes, on the option to Enable Auto Recharge for Call Termination, as shown.
Please note, the minimum termination balance your account can fall below is $50 before your credit card can be automatically charged. You must enter an amount of $50 or greater. After selecting yes in the ‘Enable Auto Recharge for Call Termination’ option, a new menu will appear below, as shown.
In this example, we will enter $75 in the ‘if my termination balance falls below’ box, as shown.
We will now configure the dollar amount to be charged after the termination balance has fallen below $75. Please note, the minimum Auto Recharge amount for termination must be $300 or greater.
In this example, we will enter $1000 in the Charge My Card on File box, as shown.
Here, you have the ability to choose the maximum amount of times your credit card can be charged in a 24-hour period, as shown.
For example, if you would like to ensure that your credit card is not charged more than 2 times in a 24-hour period, open the drop-down menu and select twice a day, as shown.
Please note, if you do not select any option from the drop-down menu, the default amount of times your credit card can be charged is once a day.
Next, if you are using our SMS services, you can set up Auto Recharge to charge your credit card similarly, when your SMS balance has fallen below the minimum balance threshold. If you are not using our SMS services, simply select ‘no’ in the Enable Auto Recharge for SMS option, as shown.
If you do wish to Auto Recharge your credit card after the minimum SMS balance has been reached, start by selecting ‘yes’ following enable Auto Recharge for SMS, as shown.
A new menu will appear below, as shown.
In this example, we will configure a credit card to be automatically charged $500 after the SMS balance falls below $35 dollars. In the ‘If my SMS falls below box,’ enter $35, as shown.
Next, in the ‘charge my card on file’ box, enter $500, as shown.
Please note, the minimum dollar amount your card can be charged must be $20 or greater.
Here, similar to the termination Auto Recharge we demonstrated earlier in the video, you have the ability to choose the maximum amount of times your credit card can be charged in a 24-hour period. For example, if you would like to ensure that your credit card is not charged more than 3 times in a 24-hour period, open the drop-down menu and select 3 times a day, as shown.
Please note, if you do not choose any option from the drop-down menu, the default amount of times your credit card can be charged is once a day.
After you have selected your Auto Recharge preferences, and entered a valid minimum balance and recharge dollar amount, select Save, as shown.
Please note that the save option will be grayed out until you enter a valid minimum balance and recharge dollar amount.
